Welcome to The Betting Lines Golf Betting Section.

We have recently employed a Golf specialist who will be posting bets here on a regular Basis.

We tend to find some good Special Bets during the Majors and other big events.

We will endeavour to put all our Golf Results in this section after each event.

PAST GOLF BETS

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Take Paddy Powers 6/5 on 66 or more balls landing in the water on the Island 17th Hole at Sawgrass.

94 hit the drink last year, mainly due to strong winds on day 1 and 2. Wind is forecast again this week, but not to the same degree as last year. However the new putting surfaces are what will see this bet go beyond the target number in our opinion. We found these extracts from the players interviews:

PHIL MICKELSON: I played today, and it's in fabulous shape. I don't think I've ever seen Bermuda greens, and I don't know what specific Bermuda that is, but it is the best greens I've seen Bermuda ever. It is in incredible shape. They're very firm and fast, balls are not stopping at all, and I think we're going to have a very difficult test on 17 getting balls to stay on that green, which is fine.

Q. What makes this golf course so hard?

BOO WEEKLEY: Well, 17 is one of them (laughter). I mean, I was just talking to Heath Slocum a while ago down there as he was walking back from lunch, and I said, "Did you see 18?"

He said, "Yeah."

I said, "How did you play 17?"

He said, "I hit a pretty little 8-iron in there."

I said, "Where did it land?"

He said, "I landed it six feet short of the hole and it rolled almost into the back water."

I said, "Wow, it's going to be interesting this year, huh? "

Recommended bet - 66 or more water balls on hole 17 £100 ( 2 points ) Paddy Power 6/5 LOST ( made up 65 ! )

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We link the chances of STEWART CINK in this weeks players championship at Sawgrass.

3rd here last year and no worse than 8th in his last three pga starts he ticks all the boxes for us this week.

Recommended bet £25 ( 1/2 point ) each way ( 1/4 1st 5 places) Stewart Cink 28/1 Paddy Power, extrabet. LOST

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our second pick for this weeks players championship, BRANDT SNEDEKER at a tasty 80/1.

12th here last year on his 1st visit to Sawgrass he's a very solid player who could well go close. He's been in solid form this year with several good finishes including a 3rd place spot at the Masters.

Recommeded bet - £25 each way ( 1/2 point ) BRANDT SNEDEKER ( 1/4 1st 5 places ) BET 365, LADBROKES. LOST

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Take Blue Squares 10/11 on Justin leonard to beat Boo Weekley in their 72 hole match bet this week.

Leonard has been in superb form this year making 12 out of 12 cuts including 4 top 10 finishes. Although Weekley is a very good player on his day this little snippet from his interview yesterday is enough to get us on board.

Q. Will you try to apply the same patience out here this week?

BOO WEEKLEY: I'm going to try to. I'm a little aggravated right now, though.

Q. Why is that?

BOO WEEKLEY: Just because I'm hitting the ball so crooked.

Q. Are your misses going different directions right now?

BOO WEEKLEY: Everywhere. They're low, they're high, they're left, they're right. I look like I'm playing in the Army, man, just Army golf.

Sawgrass is not a course to get away with errant shots and we expect the ultra consistant Leonard to win this 72 hole match with ease.

Recommended bet - £330 ( 6.6 points ) 10/11 Blue Square, Leonard to beat Weekley over 72 holes. LOST

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We like the 80/1 on offer for NICK WATNEY to take this weeks PGA event, the Wachovia Championship.

He has solid course form finishing inside the top 25 the last three years at Quail Hollow. He has been knocking on the door this season and is a proven winner.

Recommended bet £25 each way, 1/4 1st 5 places ( 1/2 point ) Nick Watney 80/1 General. LOST

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The 35/1 on Justin Leonard to win this weeks Byron Nelson Championship is well worth an each way interest with Boylesports.

He was been a model of consistancy this year with 4 top 10 finishes and he loves playing in his home state of Texas. He won in texas last year and it would be no surprise if he went close this week.

Recommended bet £25 each way ( 1/2 point ew) Justin Leonard 35/1 Boylesports. LOST

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Take the 100/1 available with either Blue sq or Skybet on CINK to win the Masters.

The georgia resident is in Sublime form at the moment and is sure to start shorter than 100/1. He has a very steady record at Augusta.

Recommended bet £25 each way @ 100/1  WON ( PLACED)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After spending a couple of hours listening to the players interviews tonight it seems the course is going to be very tough, perhaps as tough as last year when Zach Johnson won with a winning score of +1.

Here are a couple of snippets:

 From Scott's interview:

Q. Phil Mickelson was in here about an hour ago and said that he was asked what he thought the winning score would be and he said he didn't think it would be lower than last year. What's your take on that?

ADAM SCOTT: It's so hard to pick a winning score, but it's playing so long at the moment; it will be hard to hit a lot of shots close. And it's hard to make a lot of long putts here, even though the greens are so pure, they break so much; to match speed and line is very difficult.

I don't know, a couple under maybe, if the weather's good

From Mickelsons interview:
Q. Was last year just an accident because of the weather and just the perfect storm, or are the scores going to be lower here because of what has happened to the course and what they have done to the course?

PHIL MICKELSON: They won't be lower. I think the scores may get a little bit higher, yeah, and the length is the biggest factor. Also all of the trees and the tightening of the golf course.

Recommended bet - £100 winning score 285 or worse 17/5 BET365 LOST

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tied 4th in yesterdays Shell Houston is all we need to know to add Fred Couples to our Masters portfolio.

Back in good health, a superb masters record, he cant be ignored.

Recommended bet £25 e/w 100/1 ( 1/4 1st 5 places) Boylesports FRED COUPLES.

nb.The advantage of backing him with Boylesports is you get a refund if he birdies the 18th on day 4 but doesn't win/place. LOST

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Keeping with the Couples theme our next bet for this weeks Masters invlolves a 72 hole match bet against Jose Maria Olazabal. As we have already mentioned Freddy is fighting fit again and his tied 4th at Houston proves he's in fine fettle.

Olazabal is returning after a lengthly lay off, he did finish 26th in the Houston event which was a good effort, however maybe flattering, as this little snippet from the telegraph proves :

"My game is just off and I just don't feel in control of my swing," he said. "So my confidence is not very high and I don't know whether or not I will practice Monday or Tuesday or not."

Both Couples and Olazabal have good records round Augusta but with Olazabals rusty game and Injury concers this course will find him out.

A very strong play for us here.

Recommended bet £500 @ 4/5 Fred Couples to Beat Olazabal 72 Hole match bet - LADBROKES  WON

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Keeping with the theme that we believe Olazabal will struggle this week, we like the 7/5 on offer with BET365 on Olazabel to shoot 74 or over in his 1st round. ( +2 or worse )

Whilst the greens may be running slower this week than normal, the course will still be very long and tough. We just can't see olly shooting +1 or better in his first round. We would recommend a larger bet here, but you probably wont get more on.

Recommended bet - £100 Olazabal to shoot 74 or worse in the 1st round 7/5 BET365  WON

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our 1st of two plays in this weeks PGA event, LUCAS GLOVER @ 50/1 e/w 1/4 odds 1st 5 places (Paddy Power, Boylesports)

He loves this track, finishing tied 8th here last year and tied third in 2005. We believe he`s got a win in him this year and this could just be his week.

Recommended bet £15 e/w Lucas Glover 50/1 Paddy Power/Boylesports LOST

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our next pick for this weeks Zurich Classic, defending Champion NICK WATNEY @ 55/1 with Paddy Power.

He won this tournament by 3 shots last year and is coming into form at the right time. He looked very dangerous at Bay Hill a couple of Weeks back before slipping down the leaderboard to finish 23rd.

Recommended bet £15 e/w 1/4 1st 5 places NICK WATNEY - Paddy Power LOST

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Take Sportingbets 60/1 on Camilo Villegas in the without Woods Market in this weeks wgc event.

He pushed Tiger Close here 2 years ago, finishing 2nd. He`s a local resident and loves the Florida Course.

Recommended bet £15 each way Sportingbet, 60/1. LOST

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Take Boylesports 5/6 on Sean O`hair to beat Sabbatini over 72 holes in their tournament matchbet.

O`hair is in tremendous form after finishing 1st and 3rd the last two weeks. Sabbatini is returning after a three week layoff and has a poor record in this event.

Recommended bet - £240 5/6 Boylesports LOST

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Take the 20/1 on offer each way ( general, see oddschecker)

He`s in great current form and we fancy him to go very close on his home course.

Last time he played here he won by 10 shots.

Recommended bet £50 each way 20/1 ( 1/4 1st 5) J Randawa LOST

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Take a speculative punt on JB Holmes to beat Tiger Woods in todays 1st round match up at 4/1 ( Ladbrokes or Betfair )

Holmes is brimming with confidence after recently winning the FBR Open and a tied 7th placing in the Northern trust Open proved his win was no fluke. Woods has an poor matchplay record ( compared to his strokeplay ) and could well slip up on this potential banana skin.

Recommended bet £100 at 4/1 Ladbrokes or Betfair. LOST

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Choi loves the course, it`s suits his natural fade with so many right doglegs.

Recommended bet £25 each way 28/1 ( general, see oddschecker ) LOST

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
