Yesterdays draw proved to be a peach for Ronnie who is paired against Qualifier Chuang in the 1st round. The only name of any note in his quarter is Doherty. Ronnies off the table life is good at the moment too, he seems much happier than he has in the past. When his head is straight he`s very hard to beat.
Recommended bet £300 @ 100/30 STAN JAMES/BET DIRECT WON ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We have found a peach of a bet in this years World Championships starting next weekend, 62 or less tournament centuries, currently trading at a whopping 15/8 with Skybet. This bet would have landed 3 times in the last 5 years with make ups of 68,46,64,55,51. You could argue that there are several heavy scorers at the crucible this year, but there are question marks over some of their form.Hendry is well past his heavy scoring best.Also we have heard a whisper that Higgins is having all sorts of cue problems and the wheels have fallen off Ding Junhui's game. The Spreads go 62-64 which backs up the fact that 15/8 is a wrong price. Recommended bet £240 15/8, 62 or less centuries SKYBET LOST ( Made up at 61 ) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We have a strong opinion on Joe Perry to beat Ali carter in todays semi final best of 33 encounter. Perry has looked the stronger of the two players and should relish the long slog. They have met 3 times in the past, Perry winning all 3. Perry's consistancy and grit should see him through and we just have to have a decent bet at odds against. Recommended bet -£300 ( 6 points ) Joe Perry to beat Ali Carter 6/5 Boylesports. LOST ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A speculative punt on Peter Ebdon to get the highest tournament break with Ladbrokes is worth a small investment at 33/1.
It seems lately whenever Edbon get's a chance in the balls these days he's after a 147. He's chucked a couple of frames away this season going for Snookers holy grail.
There would be no better place to do it than the crucible and at 33/1 we can't resist a small interest bet.

We like the 11/10 on offer with Stan James on a break over 129 in the O'Sullivan - Wenbo match this afternoon. O'Sullivan has hit top gear knocking in a 140 and a 147 against Williams. With Wenbo's reckless attitude there should be big breaks galore in this match. Recommended bet - £300 ( 6 points) high match break over 129 O'Sullivan v Wenbo 11/10 - Stan James. WON ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jump on to Paddy Powers under 2.5 centuries in the Ebdon/Carter clash. Neither player are prolific breakmakers and they will have to go some to make 3 centuries for this bet to lose. Paddies actually price this the same as the Hendry/Day clash which is puzzling as they are both very heavy scorers. A confident pick for us. Recommended bet £300 ( 6 points ) under 2.5 centuries Ebdon/Day Paddy Power 5/6 LOST ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take the 4/6 on Joe Perry to beat Stuart Bingham in their recond round clash. Perry played some high class Snooker in beating Dott 10-7, making three century breaks in the process. On the other hand, Bingham was dire against Davis, stumbling over the line 10-8. They have played 3 times in the past, Perry winning all three. A maximum bet here for us. Recommended bet Joe Perry to beat Bingham £600 ( 12 points ) Boylesports. WON ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Snap up Paddy powers 11/10 on over 2.5 centuries in the Robertson/ Maguire second round encounter. Maguire looks in good form notching 2 tons in the process of beating Hamilton 10-3. In fairness he could have made a couple more. Although Robertson failed to make a ton in his first match he looks in fine fettle and could well hit a couple himself. Over the best of 25 frames we will be very surprised if this bet doesn't cop. Recommeded bet - £400 ( 8 points ) over 2.5 match centuries, 11/10 Paddy power. WON ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Although backing Ronnie O'Sullivan to win the tournament we have to take him on in his second round clash against Mark Williams. The 5/2 on Williams seems to good to miss. Williams was back to his best in his first round encounter. Although he wasn't really tested to the full he showed enough form to warrant a back against O'sullivan. Ronnie didn't look at his best against qualifier Chuang and the 10-5 score was flattering. He missed alot of balls and will be heavily punished if making the same mistakes against Williams. His temperment is looking frail and he seems to be carrying the 'dont care less attitude' Recommended bet - £200 ( 4 points ) Mark Williams to beat Ronnie O'Sullivan 5/2 - Boylesports LOST ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Blue squares 4/5 on Ronnie O'sullivan to beat his 1st round opponent Liu Chuang on the -4.5 handicap. It's Chuangs 1st time at the crucible, whilst he has done very well to get this far we just cant see him taking six frames of the Rocket. A 10-3, 10-4 victory would be a more likely outcome.
Recommended bet, £250 Ronnie O'Sulliavn to beat Cuang -4.5 handicap, blue square. WON ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We like the 8/13 on Shaun Murphy to get the first century break in his 1st round match against Dave Harold. They are like chalk and cheese in the break making department. Murphy is one of the heaviest scorers in the game, Harold is a really slogger who struggle to make a 50 break these days,let alone a ton. Although a short price, a confident pick.
Recommended bet - £260 ( 5.2 points ) Murphy to make the 1st century v Harold - Stan James WON ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take the 4/9 on Ken Doherty to beat Liang Wenbo in their 1st round clash on 23rd April ( Stan James, Bet Direct ) Wenbo is a decent player when in the balls, but has got the worst safety game of any player in the Pro ranks in our opinion. Doherty will tie him in knots and have him slashing at long balls from the word go. Doherty`s safety game will be too much for Wenbo. Its also Wenbo`s 1st time on the big stage, he will be very nervous. We appreciate it`s a short price, but it`s a very confident pick for us.
Recommended bet £450 @ 4/9 Stan James LOST ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Blue Square have under estimated the chance of a decent break in the Doherty / Wenbo encounter. We like the 13/8 on offer for a break over 115. Wenbo is a strong scorer when in the balls. His weakness is his safety game. This combination should make for a high scoring match. The spreads have the high break down for around 114-117 so we are very happy to take the 13/8. We make it no better than an even money shot. Recommended bet - £160 ( 3.2 points ) Doherty Wenbo high break over 115 - 13/8 Blue Square LOST ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We believe the 5/6 on Joe Perry to beat Graeme Dott in the 1st round of the World Championship in tremendous value. It's fair to say Dott has gone at the game. He is currenty on a 15 match run without a win, the most recent, a 5-1 stuffing by the veteran Nigel Bond in the China Open. Without a win since October 07 it's beyond believe how some bookies go 5/6 each of two here. Although Perry lost 5-3 to Ding in this weeks China open he looked sharp. They are 2-2 in head to heads, but we strongly fancy Perry to take this one. Recommended bet £300 Joe Perry to beat Graeme Dott, 5/6 Boylesports/Corals. WON ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take the 4/6 on offer with Corals or Paddy Power on Stuart Bingham to beat Steve Davis in the 1st round at next months World Championships. Davis's form is taking a nose dive and we see no reason why Bingham won't take out the Ginger pensioner without breaking sweat. They have played each other four times before and Bingham has won all four, most recently a 9-4 drubbing in last Decembers U.K Championship. This is a very strong play for us. Recommended bet Stuart Bingham to beat Stece Davis £300 @ 4/6, Paddy Power, Coral.
